An Update from your Island Quilts Committee
*Evening with the Judges and Awards Night on Thursday 4 th November at MAC (Moonah Arts Center, Hobart)
*Exhibition Online
Thank YOU
A big thank you to all the members who entered quilts this year. It wasn’t the easiest journey for some but we got there together, with a bumper crop of entries and over 60 Fabric Firework display quilts promised.
Our next milestone is judging , sharing, and celebrating those wonderful quilts!
Sadly, it’s not all good news. Craft Alive have just advised that the November Art Fair in Hobart will not go ahead because of COVID outbreaks/quarantine times. So we are pimping up our Awards Night on Thursday 4th November at MAC and putting the Island Quilts Exhibition Online, which will include:
- Quilts and artist statements
- Judges’ comments and snapshots from the presentation night
- Viewers’ choice voting
- Sponsor links
The Craft Fair might be cancelled but Island Quilts is alive and adapting!
So, we need those quilts to be finished and delivered to depots as per our schedule. That includes the Fabric Fireworks quilts which we are working up for display setting at MAC.
- Depot drop off and collection dates remain the same
- Your category and entry number advise will be with you soon
- Quilts will still be professionally photographed
- Quilts will still be judged and awarded prizes from our fantastic sponsors

Hi Dorotea,
We’re just finalising the details. Tickets will go on sale in a week or so. The Evening with the Judges will be much like other years in that it is our evening celebration before the exhibition opens (well, except this year the exhibition will be online). We’ll hear briefly from each judge and awards will be presented. Numbers are limited, so there will be ticket pre-sales.
I hope to see you Wednesday at modern guild!
Cheers,
Disa
