My Sewing Space: Leesa Greenacre

You are here: Home / Connect with Us / My Sewing Space: Leesa Greenacre

My Sewing Space is a new initiative to help us get to know other members no matter what part of the state we live in or what the current meeting restrictions are! Our second member to be featured is Leesa Greenacre, quilter, longarmer, and owner of Threads by the Sea in Bridport!  Now that you know her face and have seen her sewing space, feel free to introduce yourself to her the next time you see her.

If you would like to be featured, please contact us!

1. What do you like about your sewing space?

Although It’s still a work in progress, there are many things I love About my sewing spaces. Yes I am lucky enough to have two areas. I love the fact that they are both set up permanently. My first sewing room is set up in the house and has wonderful lighting, and a great view of the ocean. My next set up is out in my renovated garage… now studio and retail space where my long arm ‘Norma Jean’ chatters away, it is also where I sell fabric and haberdashery in my shop Threads By The Sea. In my studio I enjoy socialising and absolutely adore using my newly installed, (although at times a little wobbly) design wall.

2. What would you improve about your sewing space (other than your wobbly design wall!) ?

Something I would really like to improve is my storage and stash organisation, and shrinking my list of UFO’s. This is the ‘A work in progress’, part mentioned earlier 😉

3. Do you listen to music or podcasts while stitching? If so, what do you listen to?

I have a small sound system in each area, and love to listen to music in both locations. If you’re in the neighbourhood you might hear a little country from Patsy Cline or the Dixie Chicks, easy listening with Elton John, or perhaps a bit of Karaoke at full volume to a buzzy pop number, lately it’s Dance Monkey!!

I also listen to Chilli FM on the radio; a thrilling audiobook, or tune into a podcast.. My favourite podcasts are ‘Just Wanna Quilt’ (although I have not been listening to this podcast quite as often lately as the focus has been very one eyed on COVID-19 and masks for weeks); and the ABC podcast ‘Conversations’ whose episodes are always very interesting and diverse. There’s nothing quite like a wee bit of variety.

4. Do you have a spot to accommodate a pet or pets in your space? If so, pet photo required!

I have two pets, a mellow, chilled out cat called Murphy and Digger the fox Terrier. Together they’re entertaining companions to us and each other.

5. Are you a clean as you go person, or do you only tidy when you have trouble finding enough floor to get to your chair?

Hmm..  I am a bit of a swinger in regards to a clean sewing space. The cleanliness Barometer most often reads Mildly Messy Creative at Work, however it has been known to point rather erratically to Feverish Creative Chaos in progress…. or sporadically to Zen, Spotless Inspirational Zone!! Can you tell my star sign is Libra?

Thank you Leesa!
