Lynne Hargreaves, our Island Quilts Convenor for 2021, is pleased to announce our wonderful panel of talented and experienced judges: Marita Crombie, Lorraine Hyland, Annie Maney, and Robyn Miller!
Marita began her quilting journey in 1973. ‘It was English paper-pieced and made up of all sorts of fabrics (from my wedding dress, a matron of honour dress etc). I didn’t know then about the importance of using fabrics of the same composition!’ She became a serious and addicted quilter in early 2000 and is a TQG Appraiser. She is ‘really looking forward to judging and being inspired by the quilts in Island Quilts 2021’.
Lorraine has been a member of TQG since 1994 and served on the executive for many years. She has organised retreats for the last 2 years and is also a TQG Appraiser. Having tried various methods of quilting, she ‘keeps returning to traditional patchwork but often using bright fabric and loves patterns’.
Annie began quilting around 24 years ago ‘having always been interested in sewing, needlework and a variety of other crafts’. Her understandable addiction to fabric and the thought of owning her own patchwork shop came to fruition in 1998 when she opened Annie’s Cottage Crafts. ‘One of the things which gives me the most joy is being able to help others discover their creative side and seeing their wonderful creations.’
Robyn started her creative journey teaching machine knitting at TAFE and with husband Peter opened their own shop, Sewknit, in 1983. Over 30 years in business has created many opportunities for travel interstate and overseas to attend creative and professional workshops. This is something she still enjoys in retirement – an avid friendship day attendee! She is also a member of the TQG Appraisal Team.
