Quilters gathering for the July 2020 Tasmanian Quilting Guild meeting. Our first post-COVID lockdown meeting as well as our first meeting of 2020.

July 20, 2020 By //  by Disa

We’ve finally had our first meeting of 2020! Minutes of the general meeting will be going up soon, however here are some photos of the day and of the EPIC show and tell. Some quilters completed SEVERAL quilts during lockdown!

Put your mouse over the photo for further information, and please let us know if anything has been misslabelled or if you would like further information added about your quilt.

Carol did a fantastic job keeping the kitchen clean and going as well as registering everyone!
TQG's first post-COVID-19 lockdown meeting - as well as our first meeting of 2020!
Sarah Fraser of Patchworks Plus tempting Jane Norrish.

President Yvette Gilligan and Treasurer Danelle Griffin about to head our first meeting of 2020!
Jackie and Sharon at the table, Janelle Howell and Gaye Marshall standing, Deb Vince looking - shocked?
Jackie Thompson's embroidered blocks for a queen sized quilt! Plus sashiko and a lovely hat Jackie knitted.

Janine Richardson certainly made a lot of flying geese!
Carol McGillvray specialises in quilts made from men's shirts. (Tina Thain and Leesa Greenacre holding). Carol and her husband are sailing around Tasmania and are currently docked at Beauty Point. Sometimes one of her husband's shirts might have a 'whoopsie' hole. OOPS!
Carol McGillvray's quilt made of men's shirts. Her sewing machine was the first of her things she took onto their boat!
Fran Williams finished this WIP during lockdown!
Fran Williams' 'We're All in this Together'. Created during the COVID-19 lockdown Proverbial Quilt-a-long. The 5 houses represent her and her neighbours' shacks. The quilt uses a lot of Kaffe Fassett 'carona' fabric.
Fran Williams' Lest We Forget quilt. It has New Zealand and Australian fabrics. In addition to this quilt, Fran made more poppies and it created a lovely ANZAC Day display in her shack neighbourhood. They'll expand the display next year!
Kaye Bailey created this beauty for her host in Timor Leste. Unfortunately her English teaching trip for this year has been cancelled, but there is always next year!
Karren Walker's Helen Godden inspired finishes (and a happy Leesa Greenacre). Karren has really found her style with Helen and is designing her own creations now.
Denise Eddy lived in Kent for a few years. When she left members of her quilting group gifted her quilt blocks. Note the oast house and English Rose.

Well done Disa just checking functionality. I got the Instagram and Facebook link worked well. Love how the pics ‘bloom. Mouse hover is a fantastic idea it’s a bit clunky on my I-AQC but I’ve figured a light touch gets the thing happening. If I hold too long it opens up the pic. It’s all really exciting though and I’m sure stuff will iron out as we keep using it. Love the laughing shots. Makes it all feel like an event. Again well done. I’ve sent a link around. Think a push us to get / ensure all members are Facebooked/ Instagram logged in for news.
