“The Rajah quilt is one of Australia’s most important textiles, and a major focus of the NGA’s textiles collection. While it is a work of great documentary importance in Australia’s history, it is also an extraordinary work of art; a product of beauty from the hands of many women who, while in the most abject circumstances, were able to work together to produce something of hope.”                                           National Gallery of Australia

In 2024 Anne Thompson was granted permission by the National Gallery Australia (NGA) to create a facsimile of the ‘Quilt’, printed on fabric, true to size (3.5mx3.3m) and colour nd display this in Franklin in perpetuity.  Anne and her husband Rob are wanting as many people as possible to see what was created and the history that many have yet to learn.   “The NGA original in Canberra, is too delicate for public display.  We are keen to pass on this ‘one off’ replica without cost or obligation and to have your thoughts on it being managed for common good”.
